We are the oldest fair in America. Join us in celebrating traditional fair events, contests, live entertainment and so much more! We also host a multitude of events year round.

The Fredericksburg Agricultural Fair was established in 1738 when the Virginia House of Burgess authorized, and directed, that "fairs should be held in Fredericksburg twice a year for the sale of cattle, provisions, goods, wares, and all kinds of merchandise".

Parking will not be available for purchase online the day-of your visit and must be purchased at the gate. Fairplex is a cashless venue. Parking toll lanes and admission booths will accept debit or credit cards only. Vendors and concessionaires inside the event may still accept cash, but we encourage use of card.

All guests will be screened for weapons either by a walk-through or hand-held detection device. Bags, purses, coolers, and similar containers will be searched to determine if any illegal, prohibited, or suspicious items are present that may pose a safety or security concern within the property.

Food, drinks, rides, and games, are all paid for using State Fair Food & Midway Coupons. State Fair Food & Midway Coupons can be purchased at the numerous coupon booths around the grounds or in advance online at BigTex.com/Tickets.

Why is it called Fredericksburg VA? ›

The City of Fredericksburg was established by an act of the Virginia General Assembly in 1728, on land originally patented by John Buckner and Thomas Royston of Essex County in 1681. It was named for Frederick, Prince of Wales (1707-51), eldest son of King George II of Great Britain and father of King George III.

The Fair runs for 24 consecutive days each fall, making it the longest-running fair in the nation. In 2024, the State Fair of Texas will be open Sept. 27 - Oct. 20.
